Advantech's reported carbon emissions

Advantech, a firm in the Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers industry based in Taiwan (TW), has outlined significant commitments to address its carbon emissions. In 2024, Advantech reported total global emissions of approximately 779.8 million kg CO2e, encompassing Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. Scope 3 emissions constituted the largest portion, amounting to about 750.9 million kg CO2e, while Scope 2 emissions were approximately 22.7 million kg CO2e (market-based) and Scope 1 emissions were about 3.6 million kg CO2e. The company has set ambitious climate targets. Advantech plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. This long-term goal includes enhancing reduction plans for Scope 3 emissions, developing green products, and collaborating with supply chain partners. Specifically, by 2040, Advantech aims for a 100% renewable energy usage rate across all global locations. Further reinforcing its climate strategy, Advantech has committed to Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals. These near-term commitments include reducing Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42.0% by 2030 from a 2022 base year, and a 51.6% reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions from the use of sold products per TWD value added by 2030. Previously, they had committed to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 60% per million NTD revenue by 2030 from a 2019 base year, and Scope 3 emissions from sold products by 49% per million NTD revenue by the same year. Advantech also has a long-term commitment to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90.0% by 2050 from a 2022 base year, with a corresponding 90.0% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions.
