Arkema

Arkema, a French-headquartered company in the Other Basic Inorganic Chemical Manufacturing industry, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 59.85 billion kg CO2e in 2024. This figure includes about 1.36 billion kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 787 million kg CO2e from Scope 2 (market-based), and approximately 58 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions.

In 2023, Arkema's total emissions were higher at approximately 73.33 billion kg CO2e, comprising about 1.33 billion kg CO2e (Scope 1), 943 million kg CO2e (Scope 2 market-based), and roughly 71 billion kg CO2e (Scope 3). In 2022, total emissions stood at approximately 80.47 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at about 1.53 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 (market-based) at 905 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at approximately 78 billion kg CO2e.

Arkema has set several climate commitments. The company aims for a 48.5% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030, compared to a 2019 baseline. For Scope 3 emissions, Arkema commits to a 54% reduction within the same timeframe, also against a 2019 baseline. These targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and are consistent with keeping global warming to 1.5°C. Arkema is also paving the way to achieve Net-Zero emissions by 2050, as announced at their Capital Market Days in December 2023.
