Arkema, a French chemical manufacturer, reported total emissions of approximately 59.85 billion kg CO2e in 2024. This figure includes Scope 1 emissions of about 1.36 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions of approximately 787 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of around 58 billion kg CO2e. This marks a decrease from 2023, when total emissions were about 73.33 billion kg CO2e, comprising Scope 1 emissions of approximately 1.33 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions of around 943 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of about 71 billion kg CO2e.

Arkema has set ambitious climate commitments, with near-term Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated targets. The company aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 48.5% by 2030, using a 2019 baseline. This target is consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. For Scope 3 emissions, Arkema commits to a 54% absolute reduction by 2030, also from a 2019 baseline. The company has also announced a long-term ambition to achieve Net-Zero emissions by 2050, as validated by the SBTi. This net-zero ambition includes a 90% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2045 from a 2022 base year, according to SBTi.
