Capita plc, based in GB and operating in the computer and related services industry (72), has reported a total of approximately 193.4 billion kg CO2e in emissions for the year 2025. This figure encompasses Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.

For Scope 1, Capita emitted approximately 3.9 million kg CO2e in 2025. Scope 2 emissions, using the market-based method, were approximately 2.9 million kg CO2e in the same year. Scope 3 emissions were significantly higher, totalling approximately 186.6 million kg CO2e, with the largest contributions coming from purchased goods and services (approximately 115 million kg CO2e) and downstream leased assets (approximately 14.4 million kg CO2e).

Looking at previous years, total emissions were approximately 201.7 billion kg CO2e in 2024, and 255.1 billion kg CO2e in 2023. In 2022, total emissions were approximately 22.2 million kg CO2e, with Scope 3 data not being disclosed for that year. Emissions in 2021 were approximately 29.8 million kg CO2e, and in 2020, they were approximately 50.4 million kg CO2e.

Capita is committed to significant carbon reduction targets. Its ambition is to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2045. More specifically, Capita aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, as well as absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions, by 90% by 2045, using 2019 as the base year. Furthermore, Capita has set a near-term target to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions covering business travel by 46.2% by 2030 from a 2019 base year. The company also commits that 50% of its suppliers by spend, covering purchased goods and services, capital goods, and upstream transportation and distribution, will have science-based targets by 2025.
