Centrica, a UK-based natural gas distribution company, reported its latest carbon emissions for 2025 as approximately 19.88 billion kg CO2e. This includes about 1.57 billion kg CO2e from Scope 1 emissions, 9.42 million kg CO2e from Scope 2 emissions, and approximately 18.29 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions.

Centrica has set ambitious climate commitments, aiming to become a net-zero business by 2040, an acceleration from its previous 2045 target. This includes an interim target of a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2032, against a 2019 baseline. The company also aims to help its customers achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, with a target of a 28% greenhouse gas intensity reduction by the end of 2030.

In previous years, Centrica's emissions varied, with 2024 reporting approximately 23.59 billion kg CO2e (1.73 billion kg CO2e Scope 1, 6.34 million kg CO2e Scope 2, and 21.86 billion kg CO2e Scope 3). In 2023, total emissions were around 22.87 billion kg CO2e (1.68 billion kg CO2e Scope 1, 7.38 million kg CO2e Scope 2, and 21.18 billion kg CO2e Scope 3).
