EdgeConneX's commitment to sustainability is demonstrated through its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting and ambitious reduction targets. For the 2024 reporting year, EdgeConneX reported total Scope 1 emissions of approximately 17,925,000 kg CO2e and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 498,287,000 kg CO2e. Scope 2 emissions data for 2024 was not disclosed.

In 2023, the company reported Scope 1 emissions of approximately 10,321,000 kg CO2e and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 367,950,000 kg CO2e. For 2022, Scope 1 emissions were approximately 36,533,000 kg CO2e and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 354,348,000 kg CO2e.

Prior to these years, data availability shifted. In 2021, EdgeConneX reported Scope 1 emissions of approximately 37,874,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 1,305,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 1,448,346,000 kg CO2e. For 2020, Scope 1 emissions were approximately 33,487,000 kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were approximately 6,535,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 448,590,490 kg CO2e. In 2019, the company reported Scope 3 emissions of approximately 370,514,000 kg CO2e and combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions of approximately 83,978,000 kg CO2e.

EdgeConneX has set significant climate commitments. Through its reporting entity, EdgeConneX International Cooperatief U.A., the company has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.3% by 2030, using 2021 as the baseline year. Additionally, EdgeConneX has committed to reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 51.6% per megawatt of installed data centre capacity within the same timeframe.

Furthermore, EdgeConneX aims to become a carbon- and water-neutral and zero-waste data centre provider by 2030, utilising 100% renewable energy. The company is also committed to the Climate Neutral Datacenter Pact, working towards the European Green Deal's goal of making Europe climate neutral by 2050. An earlier commitment also stated an intention to become Net Zero by 2030. EdgeConneX is also a signatory to the Amazon Climate Pledge.
