This figure includes Scope 1 emissions of about 466.1 million kg CO2e, primarily from mobile combustion (approximately 207.3 million kg CO2e) and stationary combustion (about 10.9 million kg CO2e). Scope 2 emissions accounted for approximately 133.3 million kg CO2e, while Scope 3 emissions were significantly higher at about 1,046.9 million kg CO2e, with major contributions from capital goods (approximately 423.0 million kg CO2e) and fuel and energy-related activities (about 208.2 million kg CO2e).

FirstGroup has set ambitious climate commitments, aiming for a 63% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035, using a 2020 baseline. Additionally, the company targets a 20% reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions from fuel and energy-related activities by 2028, also from a 2020 baseline. Furthermore, FirstGroup commits to ensuring that 75% of its suppliers, covering purchased goods and services and capital goods, will have science-based targets by 2028.

These targets align with FirstGroup's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions across all scopes by 2050, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing climate change and reducing its carbon footprint.
