Florence Group

Florence Group, a footwear manufacturing company headquartered in Italy, has made significant climate commitments, including setting ambitious reduction targets for its greenhouse gas emissions.

Emissions Performance:

• 2024: Florence Group reported a total of approximately 320.7 million kg CO2e. This comprised about 4.1 million kg CO2e of Scope 1 emissions and approximately 40.1 million kg CO2e of Scope 2 (market-based) emissions. The majority of their footprint, around 312.6 million kg CO2e, falls under Scope 3, with purchased goods and services being the largest contributor.
• 2023: Total emissions for 2023 were approximately 311.9 million kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were around 3.1 million kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 4.5 million kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions totalled about 304.3 million kg CO2e.
• 2022: For 2022, Florence Group reported Scope 1 emissions of approximately 2.5 million kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of about 3.7 million kg CO2e, totalling approximately 6.2 million kg CO2e for Scopes 1 and 2 combined. Scope 3 data was not fully disclosed for this year.
• 2021: Scope 1 emissions were reported at approximately 0.9 million kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were around 1.3 million kg CO2e, resulting in a combined total of approximately 2.2 million kg CO2e for Scopes 1 and 2. Scope 3 data was not fully disclosed for this year.

Climate Commitments and Reduction Targets:

Florence Group is committed to a gradual decarbonisation process and has set near-term targets, aligning with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

• Near-Term Targets (SBTi):

  • Scope 1 and 2 Emissions: Florence Group Spa commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 54.6% by 2033, using 2023 as the base year.
  • Scope 3 Emissions: The company also commits to reducing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream transportation and distribution, and employee commuting by 32.5% by 2033, from a 2023 base year.
  • Forest, Land, and Agriculture (FLAG) Emissions: Florence Group Spa has a target to reduce absolute Scope 3 FLAG greenhouse gas emissions by 39.4% by 2033 from a 2023 base year. Additionally, they are committed to no deforestation across their primary deforestation-linked commodities, with a target date of December 31, 2025.

• Other Near-Term Commitments:

  • Florence Group aims to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions to near zero by the middle of the current decade (2023-2025).
  • As part of their decarbonisation efforts, they intend to sign renewable energy supply contracts for all group companies.
