FMC Corporation, a US-based entity in the chemical and fertilizer minerals sector, has outlined significant climate commitments and reported its carbon emissions. For the reporting year 2025, FMC's total reported emissions were approximately 1.48 billion kg CO2e. This total comprises Scope 1 emissions of about 75 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 51 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions totalling around 2.56 billion kg CO2e.

Looking at prior years, FMC reported total emissions of approximately 1.38 billion kg CO2e for 2024, and 1.51 billion kg CO2e for 2023. In 2022, total emissions were around 1.96 billion kg CO2e, and in 2021, they were approximately 2.04 billion kg CO2e.

FMC has established ambitious climate targets, aiming for net-zero GHG emissions across its value chain by 2035, a goal approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). As interim targets, FMC aims to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030, from a 2021 baseline. Additionally, the company is targeting a 25% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 2030, focusing on categories including purchased goods and services, fuel and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, and waste generated in operations.
