Fugro's carbon emissions reporting shows a significant increase in total emissions from approximately 454 million kg CO2e in 2022 to approximately 525 million kg CO2e in 2024. In 2024, Scope 1 emissions accounted for approximately 211 million kg CO2e, while Scope 2 emissions were approximately 9 million kg CO2e (market-based). Scope 3 emissions were the largest contributor, totalling approximately 305 million kg CO2e in 2024, with purchased goods and services being the most substantial category at approximately 133 million kg CO2e.

Fugro is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050. This long-term goal is supported by near-term targets set with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These include a commitment to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 54.6% by 2033 from a 2022 base year. Additionally, Fugro aims to increase its sourcing of renewable electricity to 100% by 2030 and has committed to a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2050, also from a 2022 base year. The company also has an intermediate target to reduce its vessel emission intensity by 20% in 2025 compared to a 2020 baseline for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
