Gränges, an aluminium and aluminium products company headquartered in SE, has established ambitious climate commitments, aiming for net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

In terms of emissions data, for the year 2025, Gränges reported a total of approximately 4.19 billion kg CO2e. This includes scope 1 emissions of about 266 million kg CO2e, scope 2 emissions of approximately 174 million kg CO2e (market-based), and significant scope 3 emissions totalling around 3.75 billion kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions are largely driven by purchased goods and services, which accounted for approximately 3.61 billion kg CO2e.

For 2024, Gränges reported total emissions of approximately 3.82 billion kg CO2e, with scope 1 emissions at about 239 million kg CO2e, scope 2 emissions at approximately 88 million kg CO2e (market-based), and scope 3 emissions at around 3.50 billion kg CO2e.

Gränges has set near-term targets aligned with a 1.5°C pathway, including a commitment to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030, using 2021 as a base year. Furthermore, they aim to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from specific categories (purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, and business travel) by 57% per tonne of packed product by 2030, also from a 2021 baseline.

The company's long-term goals include a 90% reduction in absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2040, from the 2021 base year. This aligns with their overarching commitment to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain by 2040. These targets have been validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), ensuring alignment with the Paris Agreement.
