Leonardo S.p.A., an air transport services company headquartered in Italy, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 5.87 billion kg CO2e for the year 2025. This figure encompasses Scope 1 emissions totalling about 495 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions (market-based) of approximately 53.1 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions amounting to roughly 2.67 billion kg CO2e.

For 2024, Leonardo's total emissions were approximately 5.41 billion kg CO2e. This included Scope 1 emissions of about 495 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions of approximately 54.4 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of around 2.21 billion kg CO2e.

Looking at previous years, total emissions were approximately 6.05 billion kg CO2e in 2023, with Scope 1 emissions at about 495 million kg CO2e and Scope 3 emissions at approximately 2.56 billion kg CO2e. In 2022, total emissions were around 520.46 million kg CO2e, comprising Scope 1 emissions of about 213.11 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions of approximately 63.92 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of roughly 243.43 million kg CO2e.

Leonardo has set ambitious climate targets, including a commitment to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 53% by 2030, using 2020 as a base year. The company also aims for 58% of its suppliers, covering purchased goods and services and capital goods, to have science-based targets by 2028. Furthermore, Leonardo plans to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from specific categories, including fuel- and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting, upstream leased assets, and the use of sold products, by 52% per flight hour equivalent by 2030, also from a 2020 base year. In the United Kingdom, Leonardo is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050 across its entire value chain.
