In 2022, total emissions were approximately 125.18 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at about 14.74 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 at around 400 million kg CO2e (market-based and location-based: 363.48 million kg CO2e), and Scope 3 at roughly 110.08 billion kg CO2e.

Naturgy has set ambitious reduction targets:

• Near-term (2025): The company aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 48% by 2025 compared to a 2017 baseline, as well as a 50% reduction by 2025 compared to 2017 for Scope 1 and Scope 2 individually.
• Near-term (2030): Naturgy targets an absolute reduction of Scope 1 emissions by 37% from 2022 levels, reaching 9.35 million tonnes CO2e by 2030 (a 54% reduction compared to 2017). They also aim for a 4% absolute reduction in Scope 2 emissions from 2022 to 2030 (a 74% reduction compared to 2017). Furthermore, Naturgy plans to reduce total Scope 3 emissions to 101.6 million tonnes CO2e by 2030, representing an 8% reduction from the 2022 base year and a 28% reduction from the 2017 base year. The company is committed to reducing its combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions to 9.70 million tonnes CO2e by 2030, which is a 36% reduction from 2022 and a 56% reduction from 2017, aligning with a 1.5°C reduction pathway.
• Long-term (2050): Naturgy is committed to achieving climate neutrality, or net-zero GHG emissions, across all Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2050. The company also aims to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions to near zero by mid-decade (2025).
