This includes 48.2 million kg CO2e from Scope 1, 279.0 million kg CO2e from Scope 2 (market-based), and 5.11 billion kg CO2e from Scope 3 emissions. Their Scope 3 emissions in 2024 were primarily driven by purchased goods and services (1.75 billion kg CO2e), use of sold products (1.35 billion kg CO2e), and downstream leased assets (880.9 million kg CO2e).

For 2023, NTT Data's total emissions were not specified, but their Scope 1 emissions were 39.5 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 (market-based) emissions were 307.0 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 5.01 billion kg CO2e. In 2022, their Scope 1 emissions were 14.0 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 (market-based) emissions were 83.9 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 1.84 billion kg CO2e.

NTT Data has set ambitious climate commitments, with some targets cascading from its parent company, NTT DATA Group Corporation. The company is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by FY2040, as certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Their near-term SBTi targets, set from a FY2021 base year, include:

• A 68% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by FY2030.
• A 42% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions by FY2030.

Long-term SBTi targets, also from a FY2021 base year, include:

• A 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by FY2035.
• A 90% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions by FY2040.

Additionally, NTT Data aims to achieve net zero for direct and indirect emissions from its own operations (Scope 1 and 2) for data centres by 2030, for the entire company (including offices and other facilities) by 2035, and for its entire supply chain (Scope 3) by 2040.

NTT Data has also signed The Climate Pledge, committing to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
