NTT Data, headquartered in Japan and operating in Computer and related services, has disclosed its carbon emissions and ambitious climate commitments.

In 2025, NTT Data's total reported emissions were approximately 6.5 billion kg CO2e. This included Scope 1 emissions of 46.19 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions of 248.82 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of about 6.16 billion kg CO2e. Key contributors to Scope 3 emissions included purchased goods and services (approximately 1.94 billion kg CO2e), use of sold products (about 2.20 billion kg CO2e), and downstream leased assets (approximately 1.05 billion kg CO2e).

For 2024, the company reported total emissions of approximately 5.44 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at 48.22 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions at 278.97 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of roughly 5.11 billion kg CO2e.

Looking back to 2023, NTT Data's total emissions were approximately 5.36 billion kg CO2e, comprising Scope 1 emissions of 39.51 million kg CO2e, market-based Scope 2 emissions of 307.01 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of about 5.01 billion kg CO2e.

NTT Data has set robust climate commitments, with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated targets. The company commits to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by fiscal year 2040. Its near-term targets include reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 68% and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 42% by fiscal year 2030, both against a fiscal year 2021 base year. For long-term targets, NTT Data aims for a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by fiscal year 2035 (from a FY2021 base year) and a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by fiscal year 2040 (from a FY2021 base year).

The company's "NTT DATA Carbon-neutral Vision 2050" aims for carbon neutrality by 2050. More specifically, NTT Data targets net-zero for direct and indirect emissions from its own operations (Scope 1 and 2) for data centres by 2030, for the entire company (including offices and other facilities) by 2035, and for its entire supply chain (Scope 3) by 2040.
