Nutrien's reported carbon emissions
Nutrien, headquartered in Canada and operating in the chemical and fertilizer minerals industry, has reported significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. For 2025, the company's total calculated emissions were approximately 72.7 billion kg CO2e, comprising approximately 9.1 billion kg CO2e for Scope 1, about 2.5 billion kg CO2e for Scope 2, and approximately 60.7 billion kg CO2e for Scope 3. Scope 3 emissions were largely driven by the use of sold products (around 30.5 billion kg CO2e) and purchased goods and services (approximately 23.7 billion kg CO2e).

Nutrien has set a climate-related target to achieve at least a 30 percent intensity reduction in GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) per tonne of products produced, using 2018 as the baseline year, by 2030. This target covers 100% of Nutrien operations, including ammonia, potash, and phosphate production.
