Nutrien's reported carbon emissions

Nutrien, headquartered in Canada and operating within the chemical and fertilizer minerals sector, reported substantial greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its operations. For the 2025 reporting year, total emissions were approximately 93.1 billion kg CO2e. This figure is comprised of Scope 1 emissions totalling about 9.08 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 2.49 billion kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions amounting to around 60.7 billion kg CO2e. Within Scope 3, the use of sold products accounted for approximately 30.5 billion kg CO2e, and purchased goods and services contributed about 23.7 billion kg CO2e. In 2024, Nutrien's total emissions were approximately 91.8 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at about 9.45 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 at approximately 2.59 billion kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at roughly 58.9 billion kg CO2e. The use of sold products was about 30.3 billion kg CO2e, and purchased goods and services were approximately 22 billion kg CO2e. Nutrien is committed to reducing its climate impact, with a stated target to achieve at least a 30% intensity reduction in GHG emissions (Scope 1 and 2) per tonne of product produced, using 2018 as a baseline year, by 2030. This target covers 100% of Nutrien's operations, including ammonia, potash, and phosphate production.
