Puratos, a Belgian-headquartered food products company, has committed to significant climate action, aiming for carbon neutrality in its direct operations and setting Science Based Targets.

In 2025, Puratos reported a Scope 1 emission total of approximately 75,694,000 kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of about 394,000 kg CO2e. Their Scope 3 emissions for 2025 were approximately 21,731,000 kg CO2e. These Scope 3 emissions included about 934,000 kg CO2e from business travel, 2,092,000 kg CO2e from waste generated in operations, and 18,262,000 kg CO2e from fuel and energy-related activities. It is noted that Scope 3 purchased goods and services data was not available for this year.

Looking back, Puratos's total Scope 1 emissions were approximately 77,804,000 kg CO2e in 2024, 78,858,000 kg CO2e in 2023, 77,452,000 kg CO2e in 2022, 79,399,000 kg CO2e in 2021, and 72,848,000 kg CO2e in 2020. Their Scope 2 emissions were about 415,000 kg CO2e in 2024, 489,000 kg CO2e in 2023, 9,304,000 kg CO2e in 2022, 14,761,000 kg CO2e in 2021, and 16,210,000 kg CO2e in 2020. Scope 3 emissions were approximately 24,572,000 kg CO2e in 2024, 26,607,000 kg CO2e in 2023, and 22,799,000 kg CO2e in 2022.

Puratos has set a near-term target to achieve carbon neutrality for its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by the end of 2025, adhering to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Additionally, the company aims for a 25% improvement in operational efficiency, measured by its CO2 Efficiency Index, for the Puratos Group between 2016 and 2025 for both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. In 2024, Puratos achieved a 45% reduction in kg CO2 per tonne produced compared to its 2016 baseline. Puratos has also committed to a long-term net-zero target by 2050 for all scopes, as recognised by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
