Stichting Oxfam International, a membership organisation services n.e.c. (91) based in the Netherlands, has reported its carbon emissions for 2024 and 2023.

For the reporting year 2024, the organisation's total emissions were approximately 74.9 million kg CO2e. This total comprises Scope 1 emissions of around 4.9 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 3.5 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions totalling about 32.1 million kg CO2e. Within Scope 1, stationary combustion accounted for roughly 3.2 million kg CO2e, mobile combustion for approximately 400,000 kg CO2e, and fugitive emissions for about 1.1 million kg CO2e. Scope 2 emissions were predominantly from purchased electricity, amounting to approximately 3.4 million kg CO2e, with purchased heat contributing around 66,000 kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions in 2024 included significant contributions from business travel (approximately 12.5 million kg CO2e) and employee commutes (about 5.5 million kg CO2e), alongside purchased goods and services (around 42.8 million kg CO2e), capital goods (approximately 1.7 million kg CO2e), and upstream transportation and distribution (around 400,000 kg CO2e).

In the 2023 reporting year, Stichting Oxfam International's emissions data shows Scope 1 emissions of around 4.0 million kg CO2e (including stationary combustion at approximately 4.6 million kg CO2e and mobile combustion at about 400,000 kg CO2e). Scope 2 emissions totalled approximately 4.2 million kg CO2e, primarily from purchased electricity (around 4.1 million kg CO2e) and a smaller portion from purchased heat (approximately 72,000 kg CO2e). Scope 3 emissions for 2023 were reported at around 33.0 million kg CO2e, with business travel accounting for approximately 10.2 million kg CO2e and employee commutes for about 5.3 million kg CO2e. Upstream transportation and distribution contributed roughly 700,000 kg CO2e, and capital goods approximately 1.6 million kg CO2e. A notable data gap for 2023 is the purchased goods and services category within Scope 3.

Stichting Oxfam International has established several climate reduction targets. By 2032, the organisation aims for a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions. Furthermore, a near-term target aims for a 31% absolute reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2032, which includes a 30% reduction in non-FLAG Scope 3 emissions and a 36% reduction in FLAG Scope 3 emissions. Looking further ahead, the organisation has set a long-term net-zero ambition by 2040, seeking to reduce emissions by 90% across all scopes, with provisions for carbon removals for any hard-to-abate emissions (less than 10%).
