The company has established ambitious climate commitments, including a goal to reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 30% and Scope 3 emissions by 15% by 2030, using fiscal year 2018 as a baseline. Furthermore, Sumitomo Electric aims to achieve carbon neutrality (net-zero GHG emissions) by 2050 for its Scope 1 and 2 emissions from manufacturing operations. These targets are aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which confirms Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.'s commitment to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30% and absolute Scope 3 emissions by 15% by FY2030/31, based on a FY2018/19 baseline.
