Telenet

Telenet, a telecommunications service provider headquartered in Belgium, reported total emissions of approximately 350.3 million kg CO2e in 2024. This figure includes Scope 1 emissions of approximately 6.36 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions of 2,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 303.5 million kg CO2e. This represents a decrease from 2023, where total emissions were about 385.7 million kg CO2e.

Telenet has set several climate commitments and reduction targets. Through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Telenet Group Holding NV commits to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040.

Near-term SBTi targets (from a 2022 baseline):

• Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 70% by 2030.
• Increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 96.98% in 2022 to 100% by 2030.
• Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 55% by 2030.

Long-term SBTi targets (from a 2022 baseline):

• Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2040.
• Reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2040.

Additionally, Telenet has document-based targets, including:

• An commitment to reduce carbon emissions from mobile combustion (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 60% by 2030, using 2017 as the base year, aligning with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5-degree reduction scenario.
• A target to achieve 100% renewable energy use by 2030 for Scope 2 emissions.
