Vasakronan's climate commitments centre on significant emissions reductions by 2030, aligned with a 1.5°C warming pathway. The company has committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90% by 2030, using a 2016 base year. This commitment is further supported by a pledge to continue sourcing 100% renewable electricity annually through 2030. Additionally, Vasakronan aims to reduce its absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2030, also from a 2016 baseline.

In terms of reported emissions, Vasakronan has shown a downward trend in total emissions over recent years. For the year 2025, total emissions were approximately 22.0 million kg CO2e. This represents a substantial decrease from 2024's total emissions of approximately 33.4 million kg CO2e, and further reduction from 2023's figure of about 37.2 million kg CO2e. In 2022, total emissions stood at approximately 85.6 million kg CO2e, a significant increase from the preceding years, though this figure has since been reduced.

Scope 1 emissions for 2025 were approximately 75,000 kg CO2e. Scope 2 emissions, using the market-based method, were about 493,000 kg CO2e in 2025. Scope 3 emissions were the largest contributor to the total, standing at approximately 21.3 million kg CO2e in 2025, with downstream leased assets being a major component.

Vasakronan's efforts include a target to reduce total emissions per square metre by 10% for 2023, based on a 2022 starting point. The company also has a long-term goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030, with a strategy that includes offsetting remaining emissions through verified carbon removal certificates, planting trees, or supporting research for emission reduction in the construction and property sectors.
