This resulted in a total of approximately 49 billion kg CO2e for 2024. For 2023, the company's Scope 1 emissions were approximately 25.5 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were around 200 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 13.9 billion kg CO2e, leading to a total of approximately 40 billion kg CO2e. In 2022, CMA CGM's Scope 1 emissions were about 26 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions were roughly 200 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions were approximately 13.1 billion kg CO2e, totalling approximately 39 billion kg CO2e.

CMA CGM is committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050 across all its activities. The company aims for significant reductions in its greenhouse gas emissions from its maritime transport activities, targeting a 30% reduction by 2030 and an 80% reduction by 2040, both against a 2008 baseline. These reduction targets also align with the IMO's goals. CMA CGM has previously set a target to reduce CO2 emissions per TEU-km by 50% by 2030 compared to 2008 for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. The company also previously aimed for a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions per container by 2030 and a 70% reduction by 2050 against a 2008 baseline.

CMA CGM's near-term SBTi commitment status is "Commitment removed," with a previous status of "Committed" to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as a BA1.5 member since October 2021.
