ICA Gruppen, a retail trade services company headquartered in Sweden, reported total emissions of approximately 6.22 million tonnes CO2e in 2025. This includes about 276 tonnes CO2e from Scope 1 mobile combustion, 79 tonnes CO2e from Scope 1 fugitive emissions, 719 tonnes CO2e from Scope 2 purchased heat, 1,521 tonnes CO2e from Scope 2 purchased electricity (market-based), and approximately 6.22 million tonnes CO2e from Scope 3. Notably, Scope 3 emissions in 2025 were primarily driven by purchased goods and services (approximately 5.99 million tonnes CO2e) and upstream transportation and distribution (around 112,624 tonnes CO2e).

Looking back, ICA Gruppen's total emissions in 2024 were approximately 6.32 million tonnes CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at about 638 tonnes CO2e and Scope 2 market-based emissions at roughly 1,842 tonnes CO2e. Scope 3 emissions for 2024 were approximately 6.27 million tonnes CO2e, with purchased goods and services contributing about 6.08 million tonnes CO2e. In 2023, the company reported total emissions of approximately 12.01 million tonnes CO2e, including around 12,842 tonnes CO2e from Scope 1 and 8,338 tonnes CO2e from Scope 2. Scope 3 emissions in 2023 were approximately 11.99 million tonnes CO2e, with purchased goods and services accounting for about 11.76 million tonnes CO2e.

ICA Gruppen has set ambitious climate commitments, with targets cascaded from its ultimate parent, ICA Gruppen AB (publ). The company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050, in line with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C goal.

For its near-term targets, ICA Gruppen is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030, using a 2022 base year. Simultaneously, the company targets a 42% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe. Additionally, ICA Gruppen aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 FLAG (Forest, Land, and Agriculture) GHG emissions by 30.3% by 2030 from a 2022 base year and commits to no deforestation across its primary deforestation-linked commodities by December 2025.

Long-term targets include a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2022 base year, and a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions within the same period. For Scope 3 FLAG GHG emissions, the long-term target is a 72% reduction by 2050 from a 2022 base year.

Previously, ICA Gruppen had a near-term intensity target to reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 70% per square metre by 2025, from a 2006 base year. The company also aimed to be climate neutral in its own operations by 2020 and achieve net-zero climate impact no later than 2030.
