In 2025, the company's total reported emissions were approximately 89.6 billion kg CO2e. This included Scope 1 emissions of about 12.9 billion kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions (market-based) of around 6 billion kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of approximately 75.6 billion kg CO2e.

LyondellBasell has set significant climate commitments. The company aims to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions from its global operations by 2050. For near-term targets, LyondellBasell has committed to an absolute reduction of 42% in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030, relative to a 2020 baseline.
