Telenet, a telecommunications service provider headquartered in Belgium, reported total emissions of approximately 350.3 million kg CO2e in 2024. This figure includes Scope 1 emissions of 6.36 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 market-based emissions of 2,000 kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of 303.51 million kg CO2e. The Scope 3 emissions largely comprise purchased goods and services at 155.13 million kg CO2e, and downstream leased assets at 78.85 million kg CO2e.

Looking back, Telenet's total emissions were about 385.74 million kg CO2e in 2023, and approximately 405.56 million kg CO2e in 2022.

Telenet Group Holding NV has set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved targets. The company commits to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040. Near-term targets include a 70% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 2030 from a 2022 base year. Telenet also aims to increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity to 100% by 2030, up from 96.98% in 2022. Furthermore, a near-term target for Scope 3 emissions is a 55% absolute reduction by 2030 from a 2022 base year. Long-term targets include a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2040 from a 2022 base year, and a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 3 GHG emissions within the same timeframe. These targets are classified as consistent with a 1.5°C warming scenario.

Additionally, Telenet has committed to reducing carbon emissions from mobile combustion by 60% by 2030, using 2017 as the base year, which aligns with the Paris Agreement's 1.5-degree reduction scenario. The company also aims for 100% renewable energy use by 2030 for its Scope 2 emissions. Historically, Telenet targeted a 66% reduction in emissions by 2015 compared to a 2007 baseline, with an aim to be climate-neutral by the end of 2015 through offsetting remaining CO2 emissions.
