Dai Nippon Printing Co, a commercial printing company based in Japan, reported combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions of approximately 866 million kg CO2e in 2025. This follows 846 million kg CO2e in 2024 and 871 million kg CO2e in 2023 for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

The company has set several climate commitments and reduction targets:

• Near-term (by 2030):
  • To reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46.2% by fiscal year 2030, from a fiscal year 2019 base year. This target is aligned with a 1.5°C warming scenario, as recognised by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  • To reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, and waste generated in operations by 27.5% within the same timeframe (fiscal year 2030 from a fiscal year 2019 base year). This SBTi target also aligns with a 1.5°C warming scenario.
  • An earlier SBTi commitment from 2018 aimed to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 40% by fiscal year 2030 from a fiscal year 2015 base year, classified as consistent with reductions required to keep warming to well-below 2°C.
  • A further target is to reduce overall GHG emissions by 20% from fiscal year 2005 levels by fiscal year 2030, including overseas locations.
• Near-term (by mid-decade, 2025):
  • To reduce Scope 1 emissions to near zero.
  • To reduce Scope 2 emissions to near zero.
• Long-term (by 2050):
  • To achieve effective net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from business activities across all scopes.
  • Specifically, to achieve effective net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions from business activities at their own sites.

The company also committed that 90% of its suppliers by spend will have science-based targets by fiscal year 2025.
