• 2024: Total emissions reached approximately 17.7 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at about 644 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 at approximately 2 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at around 17.1 billion kg CO2e. Purchased goods and services accounted for approximately 15.5 billion kg CO2e of Scope 3 emissions.
• 2023: The company reported total emissions of approximately 18.2 billion kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were about 683 million kg CO2e, while Scope 2 (location-based) was approximately 313 million kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions totalled around 17.5 billion kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services being the largest contributor at approximately 16 billion kg CO2e. Other disclosed Scope 3 categories included capital goods (161 million kg CO2e), use of sold products (361 million kg CO2e), processing of sold products (266 million kg CO2e), and upstream transportation and distribution (262 million kg CO2e).
• 2022: Total emissions were approximately 11.8 billion kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were around 697 million kg CO2e, with mobile combustion being a significant factor at 649 million kg CO2e. Scope 2 (location-based) was approximately 338 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions totalled about 10.8 billion kg CO2e, primarily from purchased goods and services.
• 2021: Total emissions were approximately 11.8 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 3 emissions at approximately 11.1 billion kg CO2e and Scope 1 and 2 emissions combined at about 691 million kg CO2e.
• 2020: Total emissions were approximately 13 billion kg CO2e, consisting of Scope 1 and 2 at approximately 700 million kg CO2e and Scope 3 at around 12.3 billion kg CO2e.
• 2015: Total emissions were approximately 21 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 and 2 at about 987 million kg CO2e and Scope 3 at approximately 20 billion kg CO2e.

Climate Commitments and Reduction Targets:

Royal FrieslandCampina has set ambitious targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aims for net-climate-neutral dairy by 2050. Key commitments include:

• Net-Climate-Neutral Dairy by 2050: The company is committed to achieving net-climate-neutral dairy production across all scopes (1, 2, and 3) by 2050.
• Scope 1 and 2 Emissions Reduction: A target is in place to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 63% by 2030, compared to a 2015 baseline year. This commitment is also recognised by the SBTi.
• Scope 3 Emissions Reduction: Royal FrieslandCampina commits to reducing absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 37.5% within the same timeframe (by 2030 from a 2015 base year), as per SBTi.
• Specific Scope 3 Reductions (2020 Base Year): For purchased goods and services, the company aims for a 42.13% reduction in absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 2030 from a 2020 base year. Additionally, for forestry, land use, and agriculture (FLAG) emissions, a 30.3% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 3 FLAG GHG emissions is targeted by 2030 from a 2020 base year.
• Deforestation: Royal FrieslandCampina is committed to no deforestation across its primary deforestation-linked commodities, with a target date of December 31, 2025.
• Renewable Electricity: The company has a program for implementing renewable electricity and aims to source 100% of its electricity consumption from renewable sources, with a goal of purchasing 100% of its Guarantees of Origin from member dairy farmers by 2025.
