Grenergy

Grenergy, an electricity generation company based in Spain specialising in solar thermal, has reported a total of approximately 276 million kg CO2e for the year 2024. This figure encompasses Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

The company has set ambitious climate commitments, aiming for a 60% reduction in absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across Scopes 1 and 2 by 2030, using 2021 as a baseline. Furthermore, Grenergy is committed to achieving carbon neutrality across all scopes (1, 2, and 3) by 2040, ten years ahead of the EU Green Deal and PNIEC timelines.

Specifically, their Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets, cascaded from Grenergy Renovables, S.A., include a commitment to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030, from a 2021 base year. Grenergy also commits to measuring and progressively reducing Scope 3 emissions and aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

In 2023, Grenergy reported total emissions of approximately 228 million kg CO2e. In 2022, total emissions were around 83.7 million kg CO2e (Scope 1 and 2), with Scope 3 emissions totalling approximately 82.9 million kg CO2e. For 2021, total emissions were approximately 194 million kg CO2e (Scope 1 and 2), with Scope 3 emissions at approximately 193 million kg CO2e. Prior to this, in 2020, total emissions were approximately 67.9 million kg CO2e, and in 2019, Scope 1 and 2 emissions totalled approximately 332,000 kg CO2e.
