ISTAC's Carbon Emissions and Climate Commitments

For the 2023 reporting year, ISTAC, headquartered in Turkey and operating in the paper and wood waste for treatment sector, reported total greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 1.576 billion kg CO2e. This figure comprises approximately 78 million kg CO2e for Scope 1, about 14.2 million kg CO2e for Scope 2, and approximately 1.483 billion kg CO2e for Scope 3.

In 2022, ISTAC's total emissions stood at approximately 1.630 billion kg CO2e. This breakdown included about 80.1 million kg CO2e for Scope 1, approximately 13.6 million kg CO2e for Scope 2, and roughly 1.537 billion kg CO2e for Scope 3.

ISTAC has set a near-term target to achieve a 16% annual reduction in emissions by 2024, focusing on optimising waste transportation routes and ensuring uninterrupted landfill operations. This target applies to both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.

The company's Sustainability Report 2023 also references Turkey's national commitment to 2053 Net Zero Emissions and Green Development targets, implying a long-term aspiration for climate neutrality across its operations.
