National Cement, headquartered in AE and operating within the cement, lime, and plaster industry, has reported significant carbon emissions across its operations. For the reporting year 2024, the company disclosed Scope 1 emissions of approximately 607 million kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of about 34 million kg CO2e. In 2023, National Cement recorded Scope 1 emissions of approximately 541 million kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions of about 30 million kg CO2e. Earlier data from 2021 shows substantially higher emissions, with Scope 1 at approximately 623.27 billion kg CO2e and Scope 2 at about 40.67 billion kg CO2e. In 2020, Scope 1 emissions were around 801 billion kg CO2e and Scope 2 emissions were approximately 48 billion kg CO2e.

National Cement has established ambitious climate commitments. The company aims to reduce clinker CO2 emissions by 77% by 2050, with a starting point from 2021. Furthermore, National Cement has set a near-term target to reduce its emission intensity per ton of cement produced by 36% by 2030, also measured against a 2021 baseline. Looking towards long-term decarbonisation, the organisation has set a goal to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2050, encompassing both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. These targets reflect a commitment to significant greenhouse gas reductions within the cement manufacturing sector.
