Nutanix's reported carbon emissions

Nutanix, a US-based company in the computer and related services industry, is committed to reducing its environmental impact. For the fiscal year 2024, Nutanix reported Scope 2 emissions of approximately 18.6 million kg CO2e. Scope 3 emissions for the same period were approximately 56.6 million kg CO2e, with key contributors including purchased goods and services (about 28.7 million kg CO2e) and business travel (about 18.4 million kg CO2e). In fiscal year 2023, Nutanix's Scope 2 emissions were approximately 16.9 million kg CO2e, and its Scope 3 emissions totalled around 53.4 million kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services accounting for approximately 28.8 million kg CO2e and business travel around 10 million kg CO2e. For fiscal year 2022, Nutanix reported Scope 2 emissions of approximately 14.8 million kg CO2e and Scope 3 emissions totalling about 51 million kg CO2e. Purchased goods and services were the largest component of Scope 3, at approximately 30.7 million kg CO2e. In fiscal year 2021, Nutanix's Scope 1 emissions were approximately 0.33 million kg CO2e. Scope 2 emissions were substantially higher at about 72 million kg CO2e, while Scope 3 emissions stood at approximately 66.7 million kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services being a significant contributor at about 46 million kg CO2e. Nutanix has set ambitious climate targets. The company aims to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 60% by 2025, using a 2020 baseline. Furthermore, Nutanix has a long-term goal to reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% from a 2020 baseline by 2030. Initiatives to support these targets include transitioning major annual events to engaging digital experiences to eliminate travel and accommodation needs.
