SFS has set ambitious climate commitments validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050. Near-term targets include reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 60.0% by 2030, from a 2023 base year. Additionally, SFS commits to reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting, downstream transportation and distribution, and investments by 25.0% within the same timeframe.

Long-term, SFS targets a 90.0% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2023 base year, and a 90.0% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 2050 from a 2023 base year. These targets are consistent with keeping global warming to 1.5°C. The company also aims to reduce its direct CO2 emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by at least 90% by 2030, using 2020 as a baseline.
