Thorlabs, Inc., headquartered in the US, reported a total of approximately 586 million kg CO2e in greenhouse gas emissions for 2023. This figure encompasses Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Scope 3 emissions represented the vast majority, totalling approximately 573 million kg CO2e, with purchased goods and services being the largest contributor within this scope at about 469 million kg CO2e. Scope 1 emissions were approximately 1.6 million kg CO2e, and Scope 2 emissions were around 10.9 million kg CO2e. Thorlabs has established significant climate commitments aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company commits to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050. As part of its long-term strategy, Thorlabs aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90.0% by 2050 from a 2023 base year.
