Kagome

Kagome, a Japan-headquartered food products company, reported total carbon emissions of approximately 1.095 billion kg CO2e in 2023. This includes Scope 1 emissions of about 90.6 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions of approximately 32.9 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of around 1 billion kg CO2e. This represents a decrease from 2022, when total emissions were approximately 1.347 billion kg CO2e, comprising roughly 92.5 million kg CO2e for Scope 1, 37.7 million kg CO2e for Scope 2, and 1.095 billion kg CO2e for Scope 3.

Kagome has set Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved reduction targets. The company commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 43.1% by 2030 from a 2020 base year. Additionally, Kagome aims to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% within the same timeframe. The company also has a FLAG (Forest, Land and Agriculture) commitment to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 3 FLAG GHG emissions by 30.3% by 2030 from a 2020 base year, and to achieve no deforestation across its primary deforestation-linked commodities by 31st December 2025.
