Reusing scorecards, disclosures and past questionnaires

If you have an EcoVadis scorecard, a CDP response, an ISO certificate or a previous customer's questionnaire, you have most of your answer already. Here is how to get it onto your profile and use it for the next request.

Can I reuse work I have already done for another customer or scheme?

Yes, and you should. An EcoVadis scorecard, a CDP response, a completed questionnaire from another customer, an ISO 14001 certificate, an energy audit or an annual sustainability report all contain the figures and evidence that a new request asks for. The work is in reading them out into the right fields, and a claimed profile does most of that for you. Once the data is on your profile, every later request is answered from the same place.

What can I upload?

Document What it contains What happens on your profile
Sustainability or annual report Emissions by scope, targets, actions, assurance statement Figures extracted with the report as the source document; assurance level recorded per scope
EcoVadis scorecard Environment score, emissions and policy answers Converted into emissions data you can reuse; upload it here, free
CDP response Full emissions inventory, targets, verification Figures and targets extracted with the response as source
A completed customer questionnaire Whatever that customer asked, usually the same four things The answers become profile data for the next customer
ISO 14001 or 50001 certificate Evidence of an environmental or energy management system Recorded as a document customers can see
Energy audit Consumption by site and recommended measures Supports your Scope 1 and 2 figures and your plan
Product carbon footprint or EPD Per-product emissions to a standard Checked, then listed against your company and matched to what each customer buys

Uploading a document takes a minute. Extracted figures are checked, and anything unclear is flagged for review rather than guessed.

Your customer will accept: a profile with your existing reports uploaded and the figures drawn from them, even if the reports were written for someone else. A disclosure is a disclosure.

How do I answer a new questionnaire from the same data?

Forward it by email or upload it. The questionnaire is drafted from the data on your profile, you review every answer and add anything missing, and you export the completed survey to send back. It works with CDP supplier questionnaires, EcoVadis assessments and customers' own formats, it is included at no extra cost, and you approve every submission; nothing goes out without you. Most answers are drafted automatically; some need a person to confirm, and the turnaround can be up to a day. The point is that the fifteenth version of the same form stops being a fortnight's work.

What about a question my data cannot answer?

It is left for you, marked, and you answer it or mark it as not yet measured with a date, exactly as the Respond stage recommends. Once answered, that answer joins your profile data and is drafted automatically next time.

Do I have to answer every customer separately?

No. A claimed profile is the one place every customer using DitchCarbon reads from, so a correction made once reaches all of them. For customers who ask by questionnaire, the survey tool answers from the same data. For customers who ask by email, point them at your published statement and your profile. The guide on publishing your numbers covers the one-page statement; the profile is where it lives for customers who use DitchCarbon.

Will my old data be used in ways I did not intend?

No. You approve every data share and every submission, and a disclosure you made privately for one customer is never shared with another. Uploading a document to your own profile makes its figures part of your profile; it does not send the document anywhere. The guide on who sees your data has the full picture.

Do this week: gather every sustainability document you have sent anyone in the last two years into one folder. Upload the most recent report and, if you have one, the EcoVadis scorecard.

What should I do next?

Who sees your data explains what is public, what is customer-only and what is never shared. If a customer has asked for something none of your documents contain, replying when you have little or no data covers the response.

Common questions

Can I reuse my EcoVadis scorecard for a customer emissions request?

Yes. Upload it to your DitchCarbon profile and it is converted into emissions data you can reuse. The free upload page does this in a minute.

Can I reuse a CDP response for a supplier questionnaire?

Yes. Uploaded to your profile, the figures and targets are extracted with the response as the source, and a new questionnaire can be drafted from them.

How do I answer a supplier sustainability questionnaire automatically?

Forward or upload it; the answers are drafted from your profile data, you review and complete anything missing, and you export it to send. You approve every submission.

Does uploading a report to my profile share it with other customers?

No. The figures become part of your profile; the document is not sent anywhere. You approve every data share, and a private disclosure to one customer is never shared with another.

What documents can I upload to a DitchCarbon profile?

Sustainability and annual reports, EcoVadis scorecards, CDP responses, completed questionnaires, ISO certificates, energy audits, and product carbon footprints or EPDs.
