This includes Scope 1 emissions of 37.83 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 emissions (market-based) of 196.41 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 emissions of 709.71 million kg CO2e.

Looking back, Kyndryl's total emissions in 2024 were about 1.03 billion kg CO2e, with Scope 1 at 33.89 million kg CO2e, Scope 2 (market-based) at 258.11 million kg CO2e, and Scope 3 at 740.21 million kg CO2e. In 2023, the company's total emissions were approximately 1.16 billion kg CO2e, comprising 37.32 million kg CO2e for Scope 1, 280.76 million kg CO2e for Scope 2 (market-based), and 838.91 million kg CO2e for Scope 3.

Kyndryl has set ambitious climate commitments validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by fiscal year 2040. As part of its near-term targets, Kyndryl commits to reducing absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 50% by fiscal year 2030, using a fiscal year 2023 baseline. Specifically, Kyndryl plans to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 75% by fiscal year 2030 from a fiscal year 2023 base year, and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, and fuel and energy related activities by 36.5% within the same timeframe. For its long-term targets, Kyndryl commits to reducing absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions by 90% by fiscal year 2040 from a fiscal year 2023 base year.

Kyndryl has shown progress against its 2040 net-zero target, reporting a 9% reduction in Scope 1 emissions and an 8% reduction in Scope 2 market-based emissions compared to its fiscal year 2023 baseline. The company also signed The Climate Pledge in October 2024.
